Community Helpers Unit Activities for Pre-K and Kinder: Why Is Teaching Children About Community Helpers Important?

Now that the pandemic threat has lessened, we can take our children out more and meet new people. As a parent, it is essential to discuss with our children the various kinds of people they may encounter while we travel or go out. As a result, I started talking to my son about community helpers and what they do that benefits us.

I used the flashcards from Community Helpers Unit Activities for Pre-K and Kinder with Editable Visual Aids printable to introduce various community helpers.

It is common for children to be wary of strangers, especially if they have been quarantined at home for an extended period. That is something I noticed with my son. So I feel compelled to tell him that not all strangers are terrible and that there are people who are assisting us in making our lives better, easier, and safer.  Among these are community helpers in uniform, such as police, soldiers, garbage collectors, teachers, doctors, and others.

Providing our children with knowledge about community helpers can also assist them to understand what they need to do or who to call in an emergency situation. It will provide students/children with the tools they need to be prepared in particular cases, such as a house fire or a medical emergency.

Introducing community helpers will also provide children with information about possible future careers. It will broaden their understanding of the professions available to them when they grow up.

When you're ready to introduce community helpers to your children or students, you need this printable we use in our homeschool.
