Animal Activities for Preschoolers - Homeschool

My son is currently on the stage when he wants to learn the names of everything especially animals. In our home, we talk about animals from morning to sundown. As a result, we read a lot of animal-related books and play with some of our miniature animals.

Since we are homeschooling, I also incorporated some animal activities for preschoolers in our homeschool. I've created some animal printable activities for my son to support our Animal Unit Study. We are learning about animal habitats and different classifications of animals at the moment.

It’s always good to provide real experiences with children especially if you want to introduce them to living things and nature. But since we are in the season of the pandemic, doing that is impossible, especially here in the Philippines. Our lives as of this time are not yet back to normal.

So the next best thing that we can do is to provide some interactive and interesting animal printable activities with realistic images of animals. Personally, I like animal printable activities because they are not very expensive and super accessible too. There are tons that you can find on the internet as well.

Furthermore, animal activities for preschoolers are very inviting to children. Not exaggerating, but my son is obsessed with our printable activities related to animals. You can follow us on Instagram in case you want to see how we use our printables in our homeschooling. My son always gets excited when I am about to present a new printable activity especially if it's related to animals.

Here are some animal printable activities that I recommend to support your Animal Unit Study in your homeschool. With these following printables, the children will learn more about different kinds of animals, their habitat, classifications, and more! Enjoy!

ANIMAL ACTIVITIES FOR PRESCHOOLERS

My son is working on our Animal Habitats: Basic Information and Classification Activity

This animal activity printable comes with read-a-loud passages about different habitats with pictures of animals as well. My son wants me to read the passages while he is working on his habitat sorting activity. It's also good to promote independence because the child can always check the read-aloud passage and see the pictures to check their work. My son loves to do that. You can see how he worked on this printable in our Instagram stories.

Another favorite in our homeschool is this Animal Classification Matching Activity

If your child is not yet ready to grasp the animal habitat sorting activity concept, they can start with this matching activity which is a little bit easier. Most children love to match things anyway. This is also a perfect addition if you want to introduce the different classifications of animals in your homeschooling. My son literally works with this every day even though he already mastered it.

This simple Animal Classification Activity and Read-Aloud Posters can be your follow-up or level-up activity to the Animal Classification Matching Activity that we have above.

As you can see the child will just need to sort the picture of the animal according to its classifications without anything to match it with so it's a little bit challenging. Good thing, this animal printable activity comes with posters that have brief descriptions of different classifications of animals with pictures, this can also serve as the control of error of the child as well as the adult. Yes! I got you covered!

I hope you find this post helpful. If you did don't forget to share it on your social media, it might be helpful to others too. Thanks for being here!
